Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is our longest-running and largest training program. We welcomed our first class of residents on July 1, 1977, and now train more than 100 physicians annually. This three-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited program offers comprehensive clinical training with a strong focus on community medicine and primary care. We offer a new, innovative residency and fellowship pathway that aims to fill a growing need for doctors who specialize in treating the unique health challenges that come with age. The Internal Medicine-Geriatrics Integrated Residency and Fellowship Pathway, commonly known as the Combined Med-Geri Pathway, provides an alternative route for training geriatricians by integrating the clinical experiences and competencies required of a geriatrics fellowship across the internal medicine residency. The Wright Center is one of 14 training sites across the country approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education to offer this unique pathway.
